November 2016 : Acadia Divinity College DMin

Acadia DMin
Institution : Acadia Divinity College, Nova Scotia

Award : Doctor of Ministry (DMin)

Description : Navy blue, lined and the cape bound white satin, the cowl bound inside ½" and bordered outside 5" maroon velvet.

Shape : American Intercollegiate Code (AIC) doctors [f14]

The hoods of Acadia University follow a system based on that of the AIC, but with a number of exceptions. The DMin hood shown here, worn by John McNally, is a case in point. The hood is navy blue rather than black, and the velvet border on the hood is maroon. Together with the white lining, the hood displays the colours of the college: blue, red and white. Further details can be found in the article by John N. Grant, 'The Tradition of Academic Costume at Acadia University', in the newly published Transactions of the Burgon Society, 15 (2015), copies of which have been sent to all subscribing fellows and members.
