January 2017 : Aston University BSc

Aston BSc
Institution : Aston University

Award : Bachelor of Science (BSc)

Description : Black stuff, bordered for 3" Aston silk; four shields show on each side. This pattern is carried on to the front of the neckband, which is plain red.

Shape : Aston [s10]

Aston, which last year celebrated 50 years since receiving its charter, was the first university to use a lining silk with its arms embroidered in it; it remained the only one until 1992, when some of the new universities started to use 'embossed' silks. All Aston hoods use a special version of the simple shape [s10].
