Award : Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Description : Violet, lined with violet silk, the cowl bordered inside with two 3" bands of violet velvet, set 1" apart.

The first London hoods were introduced as a result of graduate inquiries. Those in Medicine (violet) and in Laws (blue) were made in, and lined with, the faculty colour, with one band of velvet for bachelors, and two for doctors. The BA was black with a black velvet border; the MA black lined lavender with two lavender velvet bands. The set of six was recreated for the Society in 2013, by Philip Lowe, FBS.
